Coding for interactive communication

چکیده
Let the input to a computation problem be split between two processors connected by a commu nication link and let an interactive protocol be known by which on any input the processors can solve the problem using no more than T transmissions of bits between them provided the channel is noiseless in each direction We study the following question if in fact the channel is noisy what is the e ect upon the number of transmissions needed in order to solve the computation problem reliably Technologically this concern is motivated by the increasing importance of communication as a re source in computing and by the tradeo in communications equipment between bandwidth reliability and expense We treat a model with random channel noise We describe a deterministic method for simulating noiseless channel protocols on noisy channels with only a constant slow down This is an analog for general interactive protocols of Shannon s coding theorem which deals only with data transmission i e one way protocols We cannot use Shannon s block coding method because the bits exchanged in the protocol are determined only one at a time dynamically in the course of the interaction Instead we describe a simulation protocol using a new kind of code explicit tree codes

Design/ Methodology/Approach: In this research article facts about advertisement and its effectiveness were collected from different surveys conducted by various agencies. Mainly second...
متن کاملA Suitable Coding Scheme for Broadband Power-line Communication
This paper introduces three coding strategies for using the Luby Transform (LT) code in a relay aided power-line communication scheme. In the first method, the relay decodes the received packets and re-encodes them for transmission towards the destination. In the second method, the relay only forwardes a random linear combination of its received packets towards the destination, while in the thi...
متن کاملCapacity of Interactive Communication over Erasure Channels and Channels with Feedback
We consider interactive communication performed over two simple types of noisy channels: binary error channels with noiseless feedback and binary erasure channels. In both cases, the noise model is adversarial. Assuming at most εfraction of the bits can be corrupted, we show coding schemes that simulate any alternating interactive protocol with rate 1 − Θ(H(ε)). All our simulations are simple, ...
متن کاملConstant-Rate Interactive Coding Is Impossible, Even In Constant-Degree Networks
Multiparty interactive coding allows a network of n parties to perform distributed computations when the communication channels suffer from noise. Previous results (Rajagopalan and Schulman, STOC ’94) obtained a multiparty interactive coding protocol, resilient to random noise, with a blowup of O(log(∆ + 1)) for networks whose topology has a maximal degree ∆. Vitally, the communication model in...
متن کاملBalancing Communication for Multi-party Interactive Coding
We consider interactive coding in a setting where n parties wish to compute a joint function of their inputs via an interactive protocol over imperfect channels. We assume that adversarial errors can comprise a O( 1 n ) fraction of the total communication, occurring anywhere on the communication network. Our goal is to maintain a constant multiplicative overhead in the total communication requi...
متن کاملInteractive Coding for Interactive Proofs
We consider interactive proof systems over adversarial communication channels. We show that the seminal result that IP = PSPACE still holds when the communication channel is malicious, allowing even a constant fraction of the communication to be arbitrarily corrupted.
